Principal's message

On behalf of all staff I would like to welcome you to the Heathcote High School homepage.

Heathcote High School is a comprehensive high school located at the southern end of the Sutherland Shire.  It is surrounded by National park bushland and is in close proximity to the coastline.  We have extensive grounds onsite and have access to a range of sporting facilities.  Heathcote and surrounding areas provide links to the business community and other organisations such as the Rural Fire Services, State Emergency Services and ANSTO.  All of these resources play an integral role in providing a broad range of experiences for our students.

Our core business at Heathcote High School is teaching and learning.  We value the broad range of interests and abilities of our students and therefore we work hard to provide a quality education based on real life experiences for all of our students.  Because we are a comprehensive high school we ensure we offer a broad curriculum with rich extra-curricular activities in leadership, sport and the performing arts.

Our curriculum is led through 8 faculties by a team of dedicated and experienced Head Teachers:

English faculty - Ms B. Gurr (Relieving for Mrs D. Wood)

Maths faculty - Mrs B. Kemp

Science faculty - Mrs A. Vials

HSIE faculty - Mr A. Barnes (Relieving for Ms J. Leighton)

PDHPE faculty - Mr C. Homles

Industrial Arts faculty - Mr S. McLean

Home Economics faculty - Mrs J Beer (Relieving for Mrs J. Hunter)

Music/Art/Language faculty - Ms R. Savic

Heathcote High School is dedicated to supporting the learning needs of all of our students and we take pride in providing a range of programs and student services including Gifted and Talented programs, Study Skills and Mentor Programs, and Learning Support Programs.  Ms Sonia Davies, our Head Teacher Wellbeing, leads a team of teachers which consists of Year Advisers, Learning Support Teachers and School Counsellors to carry out this work.

Finally, our Deputy Principals, Ms Lauren Jones and  Mrs Jo Hunter (Rel)  support all staff in providing a quality education for Heathcote High School students.  They work closely with Head Teachers on a daily basis to model best practice in achieving quality learning outcomes, behaviour management and building leadership capacity of staff and students.

At Heathcote High School we stand for opportunity, excellence and success for all our students.
