Bring Your own Device 2018

Heathcote High School is encouraging students to bring their own computing device to school each day. Current Year 6 going into Year 7 at Heathcote High School are required to bring a computing device to school in 2018. Currently Heathcote High is BYOD in Years 7 and 8 which will become Years 7, 8 and 9 in 2018. Students can select from a range of devices which includes Windows 10 laptops, Macbooks and Chromebooks. 2018 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. NDIS continues its roll out across NSW

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. The NSW government is writing to the families of children and young people with disability who currently receive disability supports in the rollout areas to advise how and when they will enter the NDIS. NAPLAN Online School readiness test

NSW schools will participate in the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test from 14 August to 22 September. There is a lot of information for schools, students and parents on the NAPLAN Online transition website. The school readiness test is a ‘practice run' for schools to assess their technology as we prepare to transition to NAPLAN Online. Science Shows 2017 On Wednesday 8th March, the students from Heathcote East Primary School visited Heathcote High School for the HHS Science Show. On the day, we ran two shows, one for K-3 students and the other for Years 4-6. Science teacher, Mr Geoff Thorncarft, runs these hour-long demonstrations that are based on the science of Liquid Nitrogen, one of the coldest substances known. Heathcote East Primary Students Earn their Bunsen Burner Licence On Wednesday 15th March, Stage 3 students from Heathcote East Public School experienced high school science by visiting our laboratories for some hands-on activities. Introducing Healthy School Canteens

The introduction of the revised Healthy School Canteen Strategy increases the availability of healthy food and drink options in school canteens to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. It replaces the Fresh Tastes@School Strategy in NSW schools that was commonly known as the traffic light system. Student Return Dates 2017

Years 7, 11 & 12 Years 7, 11 & 12 will return to school at 8:40am on Monday 30th January, 2017. Students in years 11 and 12 will commence formal lessons from Period 2.
